I need to post about Vaaranam Aayiram!

I watched it about a week after its release and everyone, who has watched it so far, is totally in love with it. Even I am.

VA is very different from all of Gautham Menon's films. Minnale was a romantic comedy. Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu fall under the action genre. Pachaikili Muthucharam was sort of a thriller. VA is more of an emotional treat. It was slow-moving but that's the beauty of the movie. It was a compeltely different attempt by Gautham Menon and I think it was quite successful.

Daddy Surya's character was really well done by Surya. The storyline had a theme of Father-Son relationship, sort of. It was quite emotional and touching. The movie would have been better if the scene, where Surya wanders at some random place and attempts to gain back his sanity, had been replaced by him staying at home, getting support from his dad constantly.

The great thing about the movie was that Gautham Menon had paid close attention to small details. The Surya-Simran 70s track was quite cute. The dressing and all fitted in perfectly. The 80s track of young Surya was really good. Everything had the 80s feel, from the Sathya poster at the back to the MJ dance sequence in Yethi Yethi.

When I saw the stills of VA, I dint really think that Sameera would have been great but I thought she was awesome in the film. She acted well and had the right looks for the right character. Divya had the "Girl next door" looks for her character. I dont really like her but she was OK-OK in the movie. Simran did a fabulous job in her character.

The songs are really great and I still keep listening to them, since the day the audio got released.

There was good humour in the movie and some scenes were cute. Here's a scene which comes when Surya meets Sameera.

It was a great movie that you gotta go to the theatre and watch!! :D
